A collection of our favorite Thanksgiving recipes
Thanksgiving has been a wee bit sad for the last six years, as half of our family is on the other side of the Atlantic. Our daughter Cait, her husband Josh and their little herd of four live in London, England. I’m not complaining though. We have the wonderful blessing of visiting them twice a year, and they’re usually home for Christmas and again in the summer. On top of that, we have another sweet family; our son Nick, his wife Lindsay and two adorable grandbabies within a 20-minute drive. Scott’s mom and dad are also close by. It’s just that Thanksgiving isn’t quite right without the whole clan together.
To liven things up a bit (and keep our minds off missing the missing loved ones), Lindsay and I decided to do something different this year. We’re trying all new Thanksgiving recipes, instead of the traditional dishes we serve every year for our turkey-day dinner. I’m in charge of the stuffing, sweet potatoes and biscuits. Lindsay will do cranberry sauce, a green veggie and a couple of desserts. Scott and Nick are going to be the turkey bosses and smoke a turkey breast on our Big Green Egg. I’m getting really excited about all the good food, and most importantly, setting aside a day to express thanks for all the abundant blessings and grace we’ve been lavished with.
I thought you might enjoy finding a new recipe or two for this special holiday too. So I’m popping in today to share some of our favorite holiday appetizers, sides and salads. But, you might find something fun here for holiday parties or celebrations you might be planning. Let’s take a look!
