Here we go, we're on the road again!
A little different this time though; actually a virtual trip to midwestern United States, where my sweet blogging friend Melanie, (author of Melanie Makes) lives. The Café is guest posting up there today, so that Melanie can take a bit of time off after the recent birth of a brand new addition to her family.
It's Melanie's baby girl we're celebrating today, but these Strawberry Sugar Cookies would be perfect for all kinds of special occasions you might have coming up - Easter, Mother's Day, graduations, etc. They're also simple enough to whip up to make an everyday occasion quite special. Check them out over at Melanie Makes - I'm sure you're going to love having these lovely, fun and super delicious cookies in your repertoire!

Hi Chris, Would you still have the original recipe? The link leads to a recipe that Melanie has revised. "This recipe was originally posted as a guest post by The Sucre Farine however I have since revised it to make it my own." Thank you in advance!
Chris Scheuer says
Hi Stephanie,
Sadly, I checked my recipe app and I don't have that one!
Alicia says
Hi Chris,
I followed the link to the Melanie Makes post, and she has changed the recipe. Would you mind posting your original recipe? I prefer your pink cookies to her red ones. Are there any differences in the recipe besides the red food gel? Have a wonderful day!
Anna says
Cannot seem to find the link to print this recipe.
Chris Scheuer says
Hi Anna, the recipe and the link for the recipe are on the blog Melanie Makes. I was doing a guest post for her. There's a link to her blog at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!

Hi! I came across the recipe and was wondering at what point and how did you add the sanding sugar? When you scoop and drop the cookies, are they in a round ball, or do you flatten them a bit and then sprinkle the sugar on top? Thanks!
Chris Scheuer says
Hi Christine,
Good question. I don't flatten the cookies, just sprinkle the sugar (at pat it very lightly) on top of the scooped dough. They are pretty rounded when they are scooped up with an ice cream scooper.

Those look fabulous! I will have to keep my eye out for that powder - I usually end up pulverizing freeze dried strawberries and those are SO spendy. Thanks for sharing!

One of your best ever Posts, Chris. These cookies not only look delicious but do have a gorgeous pink tint. Leave it to you to do the research to find the “right stuff” to make that happen. This could become a favorite cookie to make as I return to Aspen and another month (or, two) of Winter. You and Scott have put together your talents and turned them into the best retirement passion possible, I think. Finding a passion and running with it is the key to growing older successfully, I believe. What I really envy is Scott’s ability to edit your copy. Every writer needs an editor and that’s what I’m lacking.
Chris Scheuer says
Oh thank you Mary! We do love doing this together. And yes I most definitely need an editor!
Angie@Angie's Recipes says
