A template for a healthy, super delicious soup that you can swap out lots of different veggies!
A beautiful, magical sight greeted us yesterday as we ventured out of church. Huge, fluffy snowflakes gently floated through silent, gray skies and people of all ages smiled as they made their way through the parking lot. The snow didn't last long and nothing really stuck, but it was a fun surprise to see such an enchanting, wintery scene, here in central North Carolina.
I know, I know, we're definitely puppies when it comes to winter weather. And yes, I'm well aware that this is a common, everyday event in the northern United States as well as many other parts of the globe. For me personally though, it's an out-of-the-ordinary treat and always puts me in the mood for soup! (You knew I'd somehow change the subject to food, right?)
I've created a new soup I think you'll love. Well actually it's more than just a soup, it's an easy recipe template, which will allow you the create all kinds of unique, delicious, healthy soups on your own - depending on what's in your garden, refrigerator, pantry; or what looks freshest and prettiest at the market. Pretty cool, huh?
To see what I'm talking about, all you need to do is click on over to The Kitchenthusiast, which is the official KitchenAid blog. That's where we're posting from today, and where you'll find the recipe and a pictorial tutorial for this yummy soup. We even show how easy it is to get the fun swirled effect that makes soups and sauces look really special.
If you haven't had a chance to visit this beautiful blog over at KitchenAid, you'll find it's a treasure chest of great recipes and all things culinary related.
Meet you over there!
P.S. A sneak peak of what's coming up... We've been enjoying the most delicious salad lately. It's been the perfect way to stay on a lean, healthy track, as it's easy to put together, has a short ingredient list, goes well with lots of entrees and can be made ahead. We'll be sharing the recipe on Wednesday, so be sure to check back!

The soup looks wonderful and I just happen to have an abundance of sweet potatoes stored in my cupboard. I believe that this will my little project today. Thank you. : )
You're welcome Brenda! Have a great time!
This soup must be delicious what a great flavor combo!
Thanks Diane! We enjoyed all of them this past week!
I adore sweet potatoes so I know I'll love this soup! That swirled topping is so pretty!
And it's so easy to do Laura!
I love the snowy swirls on top of the soup, Chris! What a lovely scene that must have been coming out of church!
Thanks Susan! It was so pretty on Sunday morning - more to come this weekend!
Snow here today. Several inches, alas. Which means soon I have to be out there shoveling it. But first, I'm going to go look at the recipe for this terrific soup! Just the thing for today's weather. 🙂
I think we're about to get hit with some of the cold wet stuff tonight John. Time to break out the soup, right?
Dear Chris, what a beuatiful array of creamy, wintry, comfort-style soups - beautiful photography and great recipe! As far as wanting soup when it comes to snowy weather is concerned - we are having a cold spell around here and all the kids want for lunch and dinner is soup - so, I will follow your lead and try a soup using your recipe template!
Thank you for all the inspiration!
Andrea
You're so welcome Andrea! Stay warm!
Chris I love these trio of soups you created from one simple template. Truly the sign of a great cook. I've never seen the Torrent Blender by KitchenAid before but it certainly has some nice features and appears to be compact. I'll check it out and be sure to make one or all of your soups!
We have been quite impressed with the Torrent. It's simple to use, powerful and easy to clean.
Beautiful soup and I love the idea of being able to adapt it to any vegetables 🙂
It's fun to have a template that you can use over and over with different combinations!
Yes Chris! Please keep the soup recipes coming. The weather has changed all of a sudden and everything feels cold.. Your soups are amazing and I love the swirling on the top. 🙂
Thanks Muna! It seems like everyone loves delicious, warm, hearty soups this time of the year.
What a warming and delicious treat! As always, beautiful and tempting clicks, Chris.
Thanks Angie, you're very kind!
The soup is beautiful to look at (I especially like the photo of the three colors of soup) and sounds delicious to eat. Though I have not yet tried the sweet potato-ginger combination, just the sound of it makes my mouth water! I am a major fan of ginger!
Then you'll love the soup Wendy, it tastes as good as it looks!
Very pretty Chris! I went over and checked out that amazing little kitchen helper. Very nice recipe and beautiful photos. We had a few hours of flakes then it melted. But .... we are supposed to get a major snow event this Friday. Sounds like fun!
Us too Tricia! Snow that is. That makes a great weekend for comfort foods, right?
I'm all over that beautiful swirling on the top of this soup, and how exciting that you got to see some snow --- I really miss that!
More snow coming this weekend too Sue! Brrrr!
