In the mountains of North Carolina, where we live, strawberry season comes in mid to late May. But we're only an hour from the flatlands of South Carolina so we actually get to enjoy fresh (fairly local) strawberries in early to mid-April. Scott noticed a "STRAWBERRIES FOR SALE" sign yesterday at our nearby produce store and brought home our first quart. You can be sure that I wasted no time washing them and slicing up bowls for each of us. As I savored the sweet berries, my mind began to swirl with ideas for new strawberry recipes.
With the strawberry season always being too short and fleeting too quickly, I love to preserve it with delicious jams and jellies.
