Are you in charge of dessert for an upcoming special event? Maybe you're responsible for the whole meal, including dessert (bravo, bravo to you!). Have you decided what you'll make for a festive grand finale? I'm always looking for the ultimate celebration dessert and since I've got quite a few culinary-smitten years under my belt, I've come up with a collection of winners. I thought I'd share a few of our favorite 5-Star Festive Desserts...
Annie's 7-Layer Lemon Cake – I made this originally for a birthday celebration, but it’s the perfect cake for any special occasion. The icing technique looks quite fancy, but it’s really amazingly simple.
French Silk with Bailey’s Irish Cream - This one’s an all-time favorite dessert at our house. Everyone goes crazy over it. We served this to some friends one evening and, as one of our guests finished the last bite, he looked sheepishly around the room, picked up his plate, and licked it clean!
Schaum Tortes - A funny name for such a fabulous dessert. It’s a German confection, and was served on the most special occasions when I was growing up. I love it because it can be made ahead and even frozen. It’s very light, making it the perfect dessert after a heavy holiday meal. Use any kind of fruit you’d prefer.
Irish Blackberry Soup w/ Buttermilk Custard - This one’s a totally unique stunner. Expect rave reviews. Both the soup and the custard can be made in advance and then put together just before serving.

Have fun with these 5-Star Festive Desserts, they're sure to bring rave reviews!

Chris, what a great selection of desserts over at Parade. I especially like the Lemon Cake with the Blackberry Buttercream Filling. It looks absolutely gorgeous, and the icing around it is amazing, although it obviously takes a lot of skill to make a cake look that gorgeous!
