Meet Trish

Hi, I'm Trish, the newest member of the Café team. I love my role of replying to reader comments and questions and hearing how Chris' recipes bring so much good food, connection, and joy into others' lives!
WHY I'M HERE:
Though I was naturally drawn to baking and cooking in my 20s, I had little experience and no confidence in the kitchen. One huge blessing in my story is that my brother married Cait, who loved to cook and whose mom developed amazing recipes! More than 20 years ago, Cait gave me a true treasure: a binder containing a collection of some of Chris's best recipes. Watching Cait cook and entertain, and getting to taste so many of Chris' recipes, helped broaden my horizons and gave me the confidence to grow in hospitality and sharing my food with others.
Even though I'd met Chris and Scott a handful of times over the years, I only experienced the Café website as a fan until recently, when they asked if I'd be interested in joining their team (appropriately, this was in December, because the offer felt like the most lovely gift - I reacted like a little kid at Christmas when I read the message!).
Like so many of you, I'm drawn to the aesthetics, the tasty recipes, and the gorgeous photos from the Café, but what's truly remarkable is the authenticity of the team behind it. Having had the privilege of spending time with them, it's wonderful to see how they live out the values of faith and hospitality that they share on the website.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME:
My husband and I have three daughters: one out of college, one in college, and our youngest is still at home for a few more years…It's a season full of transition!
My favorite pastimes are reading great stories, baking (how I adore precise measurements, a food scale, and detailed explanations and instructions!), and I love to plan (unfancy) dinner parties to bring people together.
My Christian faith forms my view of people as made in God's image, worthy of dignity, and created for good work, community, and celebration. And one of the best ways to celebrate, for all of history, has been around the table where God calls us to feast and fellowship together.
"Think of all the ways the values of love are communicated over food. We serve each other. We clean up after each other. We take turns. We share. We fight and forgive. We praise and compliment. We express gratitude. We tell stories and ask questions. We listen. We hear each other pray…An endless cycle of chores is required to create a place for food and conversation, but that seat is where love is. What's more worth our time?"
