Earlier this spring, Scott and I had the pleasure of spending a few days with Anne Tollett, the founder and amazing brains behind Hanover Avenue, an inspirational interior design firm located in Richmond, Virginia. Anne helped with the design aspects of our kitchen renovation, which we shared on the blog last week. If you missed it, you can also see all the details over on her Hanover Avenue website, where Anne shares great tips and a recipe for an affordable kitchen remodel.

Scott and I love entertaining family and friends and, to me, a lovely presentation makes a nice meal even more special. While Anne was with us, I thought it would be fun to get her input on setting a pretty table. We spent a delightful morning together shopping for a few new table accents/accessories.

Returning home that day, Anne and I couldn't wait to set the table, combining my everyday china with some of our fun new purchases. It's amazing to me how just a few accessories can add a whole new look. Of course, Scott was nearby with his camera and shot a little video for you all. I love Anne's simple, classic ideas for pizzazz-ing up an everyday table:

See those pretty mugs? We'll be back later this week with a new recipe inspired by the lovely cups and a recent trip to the market. It's one of those dinner-party-worthy recipes, yet it's easy enough for every day. You'll want this one on your spring/summer recipe arsenals, so stay tuned!

  15. I love the mugs!!! and I never thought of hydrangeas. You always have the best, most exquisite taste. I also like how you hung plates on each side of your sink. I hang things there, but did not think of plates. I put them on another wall.
