Incredibly delicious, this Asian Honey-Sesame Salad Dressing goes so well with a myriad of salad ingredients and makes an amazing drizzling sauce.
This Asian Honey-Sesame Salad Dressing is at the very top of my obsession list right now. It's sweet, and a bit salty and spicy, all at the same time.
Obsessed. Merriam Webster defines this as "to haunt or excessively preoccupy the mind of". Do you ever have this problem? I suffer from it quite often and it usually has to do with some new recipe I'm developing and can't get my mind off of. And so my poor husband, Scott will have to endure whatever it is again and again... and again! Till I get it just right. He's very patient with me and my obsession problem.
When I was deciding what to call it, I thought about Asian Honey-Sesame-Poppyseed-Soy-Ginger-Brown Sugar Salad Dressing or Best-Most-Amazing-Goes-So-Well-with-EVERYTHING Salad Dressing, but neither of those seemed very search engine friendly, so I settled for Asian Honey-Sesame Salad Dressing. I do have to say though, those other names might give you a little better picture of my latest obsession.
It's true, it does go very well with so many different salad ingredients. I've served it tossed with field greens, arugula, Romaine, and butter lettuces. It's also fabulous with kale, cabbage, peaches, tomatoes, mangoes, nectarines, avocados, oranges, asparagus, green beans, really, just about everything!
Besides using this Asian Honey-Sesame Salad Dressing on salads, it also makes a great drizzling sauce for grilled chicken, shrimp, pork or steak. One evening, I brushed some salmon filets with the dressing and pan-seared them. Then I drizzled the filets with a bit more dressing just before serving - it made a delicious dinner entree.
Oh, are you ready for one more idea? Add a spoonful or two to a scoop of everyday mayo and you have a delicious, Asian-flavored sandwich spread that will transform a plain-Jane sandwich to something quite heavenly!
Try it, I have a feeling you too may become majorly obsessed - probably before you even finish your first salad. I know this yummy dressing will definitely be a frequent flyer in my refrigerator.
P.S. This Asian Honey-Sesame Salad Dressing is wonderful at anytime of year. During the summer months we're also obsessed with this Sweet Basil Vinaigrette. It's honestly, to die for!

Best Asian dressing I’ve found-thank you for this recipe!!! We love it!
Chris Scheuer says
Yay! Thanks, Laura, so happy you enjoyed it!
Patty says
Love your recipes. As far as this dressing can I use a filter to remove the seeds
after having it set for awhile as both my husband and I have divitriculitis and we have to be very careful about seeds. Or what would you suggest as I want to make the chicken curry noodle salad.
Chris Scheuer says
Yes, that would be fine, Patty. Next time you can just leave them out.
Jan Vala says
Oops, sorry. Wrong recipe. I meant the question for the Asian Chicken Coconut salad.
Chris Scheuer says
I knew that 💕
Jan Vala says
This sounds fabulous. Making it now. The recipe calls for fresh pasta but I only have dry angel hair. How many ounces should I cook? I love ALL of your recipes!
Chris Scheuer says
Hi Jan, thanks so much! I usually figure 2 ounces of dry pasta per person. So for this recipe, I would use 12 ounces. If you have big pasta lovers, just do the whole 1 pound package. Enjoy!
Elissa says
Hi, just wondering if you have ever frozen the dressing for use at another time? PS Thanks so much for amazing recipes! Love your site 🙂
Chris Scheuer says
Hi Elissa, I haven't frozen it because it never lasts that long. But I think you could. Just shake it really well after it's thawed.
Vicky M. says
Really delicious salad dressing. This will be a new favorite for us. Plan to make your ramen noodle crunchy topping recipe also.

Very very good. I love the suggestion of adding peanut butter powder to make it a bit more tangy. Thanks so much! Delicious!
Chris Scheuer says
Thanks, Michele! So happy you enjoyed this dressing.
I make so many new recipes all the time that I'd kind of forgotten about this gem. Now that you've reminded me, I'm going to make a batch for our next salad!
Linda says
Made this tonight, is very nice. Added a dollop of miso and next time might use less honey - but blended it all in the bullet (sans poppy seeds, didn't have any) and it became a nicely thick pourable salad dressing. Looking forward to seeing how it mellows together by tomorrow.
Chris Scheuer says
Thanks Linda, so happy you enjoyed it!
Amy says
Great dressing with great flavor! Added just a touch of lemon juice to brighten. Have to agree with Cyndi tho'. Way too much sesame seed and poppy seed. I cut those to just 1 tsp ea...perfect for us! Thanks for sharing this recipe. Will make often!
Chris Scheuer says
Thank Amy.

OMG insanely delish!!!
Cyndi, says
Great taste but too many poppy and sesame seeds.......almost had to chew the dressing.
Chris Scheuer says
Interesting, I've never had that problem, nor has anyone else who tried it. Could you possibly have measured wrong?
Claire says
Just made this dressing for a lunch salad and it is really nice. Other salad dressings on your site are on my list try. Again thank you for sharing.
Francine Griffin says
I was wondering what the nutritional information was on this dressing. I can't seem to find nutrition information.
Chris Scheuer says
Hi Francine, Sorry, I don't have that info but it's easy to plug it into My Fitness Pal. Here is the link:https://www.myfitnesspal.com
Meshia says
So I asked my husband to search 'The Pinterest' to find a good recipe for an Asian Vinaigrette type dressing. Apparently I should let him look for all my recipes because OMG this dressing is AMAZING! Im literally addicted to it. Its been lovingly placed in my recipe cards at home. Also, you're right, anything. This dressing goes with anything. We had a rice buddha bowl tonight with a few different lettuces including kale, arugula, red romaine, spinach and nappa cabbage and julienned carrots, tomatoes, green peppers, green onions, avocado and smoked tofu. I just made my homes new favorite dish. Just Amazing. Now I need to search the rest of your site and hopefully find more little gems like this! Thank you for sharing!
Chris Scheuer says
I keep coming back to that dressing too Meshia, it's definitely a favorite at our house as well!
Katie O says
I don't often leave comments on recipes I've tried, but I just had to say how much I love this dressing! I actually don't add any of the sweeteners, but it's still tangy and sweet. I need to start making double batches now because we use it up too fast! Thank you for sharing!
Chris Scheuer says
Katie, we're so glad you enjoyed the dressing! We love it too! Thanks for your encouraging comments and welcome to The Café!
Ericka says
I made this dressing today to top my Asian salmon salad. It was delicious! I love that I know what's in it (no preservatives), and that I had every ingredient in my pantry or fridge already! It's a keeper!
Chris Scheuer says
So glad you enjoyed it Ericka. We've got lots of dressing in our archives, so feel free to explore!
Anne F. says
How long will this salad dressing keep? 1 1/2 cups is a lot for two people over a few days. Will it keep 2weeks? How long do you think?
Chris Scheuer says
Hi Anne,
It will definitely keep for a week to 10 days. It never lasts longer than that around here 🙂
sharon says
Hi Scott & Chris,
Have been trying to 're-create' - and improve upon - a ready-made Asian-inspired salad I sometimes pick up at the grocer's when I'm feeling lazy. This dressing does the trick (X 100) & puts the deli version to shame. Sooo good.
I made a cabbage/kale/carrot/pepper/sprout salad and we also put the dressing onto our Sockeye before grilling.
Insanely tasty dinner.
At 40-something I'm stubbornly old-school, and prefer to put my recipes onto paper and into a folder; naturally this one will be stained and dog-eared before long.
Thanks!
Chris Scheuer says
Thanks for letting us know Sharon. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Nick P says
question for you. How long can you store this dressing in the fridge for? no more than a week i would assume seeing we r using fresh garlic..
Chris Scheuer says
Yes, a week is as long as I would store this.
Danielle says
I just made this and its amaaaaazing, better than anything store bought. I'm slathering some salmon with this tonight for dinner and I can't wait.
dorothy says
This salad dressing is so good, I could just eat it by the spoonful. I have been looking for a recipe for a good Asian dressing for a while. The one's that I have purchased have something in them that makes me itch... Awful..
I won't be buying premade anymore. Just love this dressing..
Yesterday I received the email with the "toffee cowboy' cookies, can't wait to make them for my "herd'.
Have a wonderful summer..
