"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

  1. Hi Chris,
I love your recipes! Could the bread-y ones be modified to use gluten-free flour? I have one family member who can’t tolerate wheat products.

    Debbie

    1. Hi Debbie, I haven't personally tried these recipes with GF flour. I know that there have been readers who have reported back good results for some of the breads but, since I haven't tried them, I can't give specific advice.

  2. Chris, I thoroughly enjoy your blog and hope you never tire of blogging. Your recipes are full of crisp, bright flavors and never disappoint. I also enjoy that you are a Christian, Nurse, and North Carolinian. I identify with these characteristics. To me these make for the perfect blog host.

    1. Your comment made me smile, Sandra! Thanks for such a thoughtful response 💕💕 As long as God gives me the ability and ideas for creating recipes I will continue. It's honestly something I never tire of and I'm so thankful for this gift.

    2. This is just so beautiful. Absolutely love your recipes and especially the Bible verses. I, too, have asked God to use my time and talents and baking bread for my friends seems to fit right in. Keep up the good work. Your recipes are blessing many people.

  3. Thanks for not only your wonderful recipes that always deliver, but for your hearts of compassion and pointing us to scripture and that link to the Power of the Cross. It was beautiful. Yesterday made your bran muffins and was able to share with a struggling neighbor, along with a note that shared the Good News of Easter in hopes of encouraging them to find the hope, peace and joy they were looking for!

    1. This is so awesome, Pat! That's what it's all about, isn't it? I really appreciate you taking the time to leave such a kind and encouraging comment 💕

  4. I was able to get a 2lb. bag of Red Star yeast from Gordon Food Service. They even have curbside pick-up. Don’t know if they have any stores in your area, but it might be worth a try. By the way, absolutely loved the yogurt pancake recipe! The best I ever made!! Thank you for a bright spot in these scary times! Be well!

    1. Lucky you, you can bake bread till the cows come home! 😂
We don't have a GFS nearby but thanks for sharing the info for people who do.
So happy you enjoyed the pancakes. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment!

  5. Hi Chris. Happy Easter from London, UK. I've been experimenting with a sourdough starter since lockdown and look forward to making my first sourdough loaf next week. We are having the same problems with dried yeast over in the UK, it kills me to know that there will people who have stockpiled dried yeast "just in case" but will never get round to using it, or even know how to, whilst we bakers are driving ourselves crazy trying to get hold of some! I was told recently that it is perfectly possible to make your own yeast the Polish way, using a cooked potato - I haven't tried it yet, but fully intend to once my dried yeast is gone. There are lots of versions, but this one looks good https://practicalselfreliance.com/potato-yeast-starter/ it is weaker than commercial yeast so you will need to use more.

    1. Thank you, Elaine. I will check into the yeast post. I appreciate you taking the time to leave such a helpful comment. Happy Easter all the way to London! Stay safe!

  6. I have also been trying and failing to find yeast so these recipes are greatly appreciated. Thanks for making a post concerning this problem! 🙂

  7. Chris,
Oh my gosh, I feel like you read my mind! I’ve been trying to buy yeast to try some of your bread recipes for two weeks!!
You just solved my problem! Now I can get busy! Thanks!!!
