Do you enjoy the delicious fig jams you find at the fancy-dancy specialty shops? We do and love to pair it with cheese, charcuterie and so much more! Did you know you can make a whole batch for less than the cost of one gourmet-shop jar? The jams make fabulous gifts so we're including free printable labels, for the asking!
We love having the refrigerator, pantry and/or freezer stocked with an assortment of fig jams. Having jars of this delicious condiment available makes putting together an appetizer SO easy! On top of that, I've found very few people that don't love it!

Simply pull one or more varieties of cheese, a sleeve of crackers, a bowl of these Maple-Glazed Roasted Almonds or these Sweet and Spicy Glazed Pecans, some fresh fruit and a jar of one of these delicious fig jams and... voila! You've got a gourmet appetizer that's worthy of royalty!

We used to stock our larder with store-bought fig jam but it's so darn expensive - a small jar running anywhere from 8 to 10 dollars, yikes! But one day, a few years ago, I discovered that it's super easy to make my own fig jam and it tastes even better than the stuff from the fancy gourmet shop.

Who knew you could make fig jam from dried figs?
Even better than that, you don't have to wait for fig season to roll around or break the bank on fresh figs. Did you know that you can make fabulous fig jam from DRIED figs? Yep, you heard that right. I was so thrilled with this discovery that we now have 3 different fig jam variations on the blog. So take your pick or make a batch of each one because in addition to appetizer boards, there are so many other things you can do with fig jam. Here are a few ideas:
- Fig jam makes a fabulous grilled cheese. We love it on sourdough bread with Gouda or Fontina cheese.
- It's great as a sandwich spread.
- Any of these 3 fig jams make a wonderful base for pizza.
- Use it as a filling for thumbprint cookies.
- Use it as a glaze for pork roasts, pork tenderloin and grilled chicken.
- Fig jam is delicious on toast, biscuits and scones.
- Use it as a filling between cake layers.
- Roast some veggies with olive oil and a spoonful of this balsamic fig jam... so good!
- Make a fig salad dressing; combine ÂĽ cup jam, 2 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard and â…“ cup extra vigin olive oil in a jar with a tight-fitting lid. Add salt and pepper to taste, cover and shake, shake, shake. That's it!
- Spoon it over oatmeal then add a drizzle of cream or half-and-half.
- Stir a spoonful into your morning yogurt. Top with crunchy granola.
- Give it as a gift!
Yes, a jar of fig jam makes a wonderful gift for friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, teachers, hostesses... anyone! Because we enjoy giving delicious gifts from the kitchen, we've created free printable labels for each of these fig jams.

If you'd like to receive a PDF for any of the labels, just leave us a comment below that particular post. The only thing we ask is that you request each set of labels individually. We send out LOTS of labels and that's how we stay organized.

Do you have any suggestions for adapting these wonderful recipes for using fresh figs? I have several trees, and it's fig season here in Northeast Mississippi. I've searched for information online, but all I get is how to use dried figs in fresh fig recipes. I always look forward to your posts and have loved EVERYTHING I've made from your recipes!
Hi Rick, I haven't tried these recipes with fresh figs but I would think they would work well. You would need a longer cooking time though as they have more water content.
